Meeting (05/01/12) and highlighting feedback

What we discussed/did:
From the feedback we had gathered throughout the half term, Lauren and I decided to go through the comments we received on our rough-drafted music video. We decided to print out the comments and highlight the positive and negative comments we had received (highlighting the most important feedback, the constructive comments/criticisms, in yellow)
From this we were able to divide the feedback and focus on what we need to work on for our music video development. We have acknowledged comments based on the lighting, contrast, colours, shots used, changing amount of blurred shots and overlaps used in the video accordingly to the comments received as-well as our own perception.
In order to keep time spent on the music video equal, we decided to break up the day evenly for each of us to spend individually (as well as together) in our lesson and free time in the day. Period 2 we concluded our comments/changes needed to be made, so that we were organised for the construction. Throughout periods 3 and 4 we worked together on the video and discussed what we thought about what shots should be changed the most. In period 3, I (Aimee) worked on parts of the video such as cutting the shots in time/beat of the song (to make it a faster pace), enhancing the shots of the projection, using brightness and contrast, blur focus and colour correction, overlaying shots onto those which looks 'messy/distracting' to the viewer so it looked more appealing, and Lauren worked in period 4 and til 5:00 after school and worked on improving the image quality (brightness/contrast), colour correction, blur, adding in creative shots..etc and changing certain shots accordingly to ensure we covered the criticisms given to us.

Feedback received and highlighted:
In green pen we highlighted the positive feedback, but in the yellow pen we highlighted the constructive criticisms we received for the music video

Here is evidence of us going through the music video and feedback, writing down the points made of the criticisms of the changes to make in certain clips, referring to the green highlights/comments.

During this lesson/meeting, we also generated a draft of the pop up that would show the name, title of artist and record label (bokeh productions) at the beguinning and end of the video.

Meeting (15/12/11)

Today we had a meeting once we were both in school. We mainly focused on the music video for before the deadline and talked about how we can improve on the video. Lauren did some of the editing this morning and once I made it into school at 10, she discussed with me what she added to the music video and why. As I focused on parts of the editing in the afternoon yesterday, we thought it would be fair to ensure we both ensured we were both putting an equal input into the music video, so Lauren decided to do some editing this morning.
We also talked about where the website was at and what we intend to do with it once the music video is underway.

Feedback from sir:
- Keeping abstract - CONSISTENT
- Filming of lights
- Beats

Meeting (09/12/11)

In our own free time, we both decided to have a quick meeting about what we need to focus; to work on the website and editing of the music video.
For the website, we spoke about what we currently have on the website and how we can improve it to make it look more professional. We were both pleased about the stage we are at so far and spoke about how to make it even better, such as inluding a registering feature, as well as a user name and password feature. From our research into other websites, we were able to think back to what other music artists websites included and how we should display our own.
We discussed about the current stage of our music video and how we can improve on it, such as how to fit in all of the suitable footage into the right parts of the song and when we should start adding effects to the video.

Here are a couple of images displaying what we were looking at and discussing about the website (where we are currently at in terms of the webste stage):

Meeting (24/11/11)

In our media lesson we discussed about what we will need to do for the development of our music video. On friday evening, we will be filming in London and we have thought about the following points:

- Going over the call sheet
- Filming at night
- Discussion about lighting for filming in the dark - Sorting out portable lighting for filming.
- Locations
- Discuss points about the digipack and website

This meeting has helped us to have a clearer mind about the evening and how we need to prep and collect equipment so that we can be organised and have an effective film shoot.

Meeting (26/10/11)

Today we had a meeting to discuss the following points: Lighting styles and effects, Possible locations, Actors and influences for camera shots, angles and techniques. All in preparation for our final idea.
We both met up in the holidays in order to get some of the work done together and go through some important points that we needed to have ready for when we go back to school.

Meeting
Discussion Points:
Lighting ideas:
- Light incorporations (different focus on the lighting objects, faces)
- Colour scheme dark/natural with multicolour lights from different objects and light sources such as L.E.Ds, fairy/christmas lights, street/city lights, the moon, reflections from glitterballs and other objects.
- Considering the use of florescents and UV-paint on the artist and from objects.
- Fireworks/sparklers.
Lighting is the crucial element within our music video, as we want to incorporate fantasy with hypereality. Also by varying the light sources and objects we can produce inspired techniques and shots which will deliver an effective and exciting music video.

Location ideas:
Lights being the main concept of our music video we need to really consider locations which will intrigue the audience. We have expanded our location options ready to follow up, for further research and visits.
- London will be our most used location
as this is the music capital, it can represent dreams and possibilities. Through using the iconic buildings and the lighting around we can be very creative.
- London has very appealing scene which will entice the audience.
-Different settings: river scene, studio, city.

Actor requirements:
  - Think about auditions for the positon of the female Arstist. The three possible actors? Any extras needed?
- Characteristics of the actor: Most crucial factors:- confident, reliable, good communication skills, strong and dynamic. Bonus(?) features/important:- Attractive, portray a good female role model image, professional, good acting skills.
- Overall image of the Artist: Independence, strong female role model, innocent, attractive, stylish/fashionable.
- Image that will sell the band?
- Artists appeal towards the audience/ creating connections?
- Creating an identity for the artist.
- Considering our target audience which will be females (in early 20's) young adults/audlts. Can appeal to males because of sex appeal, but mainly girls/women because of fashion, role model figure, independence.

Inspirational Videos:
Here we have included some videos that we viewed whilst working together in order to get some inspiration on the points that we had raised within the work time.
Most of the videos below show some creative shots including effective lighting, locations and editing techniques.

What caught our attention in this particular video was the use of flashlights to highlight the singers face in the dark and how the dancers used them in a line to enhance the movement.
When we came across this music video, what caught our eye was the multi-coloured fairy lights used and how it made the shot look more appealing. We also noticed that the use of a projection on the singer highlighted her and made the shot look more interesting.
The main thing which stood out to us both in this music video was the editing effects used, such as quick cuts and video montages - creating a nice faded effect of two or more different videos.
When looking at this video, we liked the use of bright lighting set behind the person, thus creating a silhoette and making the person stand out.

The use of a spot light on the music artist stood out to both of us, as it is effective for making the person stand out and appear more visible in the shot.

What inspired us both in this music video was the use of lights, projection and creativity to make the music video more visually appealing and interesting.
- UV LIGHTS..

Meeting (06/10/11)

Before our media lesson, Aimee and I decided to have a quick meeting about what we have done so far and how we need to progress.
We had a look on what we have completed so far for our project and how we can make this promotional campaign successful. We spoke about ideas with one another in terms of planning to take a few more visits to locations, what we are going to include in the music video, the concept, target market and how we are going to create an image for the artist.
We had the meeting before our media lesson, which was going to involve us presenting our pitch, in order to clarify ideas and questions we had,

Meeting (29/09/11)

After our media class, we both decided to have a meeting about our intentions for the music video. In class today, we were talking about how the images and the concept of the video is key, especially deciding on the setting and whether its suitable for the song. Towards the end of the lesson, we all spoke about our ideas for the song, and created a brainstorm of new ideas and suggestions. Together (Aimée and I) discussed the feedback that we recieved during the lesson. We generated a brainstorm to list the ideas / opinions / points that were raised for our video.

The main points raised effecting the structure of the video were that the music video would not necessarily need a story or an ending. We spoke about the settings in which we could use. In order for our music video to appeal to the international and British market, we need to research and spend a reasonable amount of time looking at different locations. We are very fortunate as we live fairly close to London which is the centre of the second biggest Music market in the UK, where it is full of opportunity and is recognised for its skyline of landmarks.

  • mature themes that this audience can relate to for your content
  •  Sensitivity, Artistic expression, Uniqueness = Alternative (Why? what makes our video this genre)
  • Image, what will sell the album to the audience
